Legislature President Wang Jin-pyng is leading a delegation to attend the 20th anniversary meeting of the Forum of Presiding Officers of National Parliaments of Central American and the Caribbean Basin.
The Republic of China, which is the official name of Taiwan, is an observer of the forum, which is set to take place on August 25 in Nicaragua.
This year, the forum’s participants will sign three resolutions, related to climate change, gender equality and the prevention of money laundering.
The eight-member delegation from Taiwan includes legislators from both the ruling and opposition parties. The group was scheduled to arrive in Nicaragua on Sunday, local time.
The group has scheduled a transit stop in New York on August 27. The delegation will meet with members of the overseas compatriot community on its way back to Taiwan.
