Taiwanese tennis star Lu Yen-hsun advanced to the second round at the US Open after winning the men’s doubles on Wednesday with first time partner Jiri Vesely of Czech Republic.
Lu and Vesely beat their opponents 2 sets to 1 on the third day of the tournament. Together they defeated Australian Matthew Ebden and Croatian Ivo Karlovic 6-7, 6-4 and 6-4 to advance to the next round.
Lu was the only Taiwanese player in the men's singles, but lost his first-round encounter on Tuesday. Lu is currently ranked 34th in the world.
