World Pride 2014

A Gallup Poll survey of global attitudes towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues has found that Taiwan is the world’s 39th most LGBT friendly country.

Thirty-nine percent of Taiwanese respondents said Taiwan is a country that welcomes LGBT people.

The most LGBT friendly country in the Gallup Poll ranking was the Netherlands. Eighty-three percent of Dutch respondents said their country is an LGBT friendly place. Following the Netherlands as runner up for the world’s most LGBT friendly country came Iceland, followed by Canada, Spain, and the UK. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Senegal were rated the least LGBT friendly countries.

The London-based Gay Star News reports that globally, only 28% of respondents to the Gallup Poll felt that they live in an LGBT friendly country.
