Shares in Taiwan fell Wednesday as hundreds of protestors demanding a clause-by-clause review of the cross-strait trade in services agreement occupied the legislative floor. Shares of Taiwanese computer giant Acer also fell as the government opens an investigation into possible insider trading at the firm.

The TAIEX closed down one half of one percent (0.48 percent) at 8,689.46.
