Taiwanese tennis player Hsieh Su-wei and her Chinese partner Peng Shuai have advanced to the third round of women’s doubles at the US Open.
On Saturday the second-seeded cross-strait duo defeated Darija Jurak of Croatia and Megan Moulton-Levy of the United States 6-4, 6-2.
Despite the duo’s success in grabbing three championships this year, including the French Open in June, they have confirmed that the US Open will likely mark the end of their partnership.
Commenting on the news of the impending split of the celebrated duo, Taiwan’s top tennis player Lu Yen-hsun said he feels that it is a pity, but he also said he hopes both players will find new partners soon.
Meanwhile, another Taiwanese tennis player also advanced to the third round of the US Open. Taiwan’s Chan Yung-jan and her partner, Ross Hutchins of the United Kingdom, defeated their American rivals Melanie Oudin and Rajeev Ram to make it to the third round of the mixed doubles.
The US Open, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, continues through Sept. 8 in New York.
