President Ma Ying-jeou says some 88% of the policy proposals submitted by the nation’s youth have been adopted by government agencies.
Ma made the comments on Sunday during his opening speech at the 7th National Meeting of Youth Policy Forum in Taipei. More than 300 young people aged 18-35 attended the meeting, which was broadcast live online.
Ma said if the adoption of policy projects proposed by young people resulted in savings to government agencies, then the agencies should offer positive feedback to young people. He also said he found young people’s policy proposals are becoming more and more mature over the years. Ma said last year, 88.63% of the proposals were adopted.
The issues covered in this year’s forum include island-wide bicycle lanes, long-term care, and renewable energy.
