I'm registered

Taipei mayor candidate Sean Lien registered for the elections on Tuesday. The mayoral campaigns have been heating up for the elections on November 29.

Ruling Kuomintang candidate Sean Lien spoke about the goal of his campaign.

Lien said, "The purpose of our campaign is to spread seeds of hope in the city of Taipei. Starting today, I will go throughout the streets and alleys and to every part of the city to sow the seeds of hope. That’s because we believe that hope can break through darkness, and cooperation can replace confrontation."

Lien also said that if he is elected, he will turn Taipei into a world class city and help residents live happy lives.

The Kuomintang candidate is the son of former Vice President Lien Chan who is also Honorary Chairman of the ruling party.

His rival, independent candidate Ko Wen-je, is planning to register on Friday.

The 9-in-1 elections in November will be the most comprehensive of Taiwan’s elections as it will elect people for nine types of offices. The over 11,000 posts to be filled include mayors of cities and counties, township representatives, and city councilors throughout Taiwan.
