The Semicon Taiwan 2014 semiconductor fair is expected to attract a record number of visitors this year. This year’s event is also the biggest in Semicon Taiwan’s 19-year history, with 650 companies from more than 20 countries participating.
During the opening ceremony on Wednesday, vice economics minister Cho Shih-chao said Taiwan’s semiconductor industry takes up 70% of the global market share and its production value exceeds NT$2 trillion (about US$67 billion).
During the three-day event, more than 120 industry leaders will participate in forums covering issues such as advanced packaging technology and sustainable production.
Semicon Taiwan 2014 will run through Sept. 5.
