Taiwan and Hungary signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the foreign ministry said that the two countries signed the memorandum in Budapest on Tuesday. In the memorandum, the two countries agreed to cooperate in areas including agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, fisheries, and environmental sustainability. The two countries will also share technology and work together to train agricultural workers.

This is the first agricultural agreement Taiwan has signed with a Central European country. The foreign ministry says that Hungary is a good choice of partner due to its central location and EU membership.

The foreign ministry welcomed the memorandum, saying that it builds on a working holiday agreement concluded earlier in the year and will help to strengthen Taiwan-Hungary relations.
