Tropical depression not likely to thwart Mid-Autumn Festival plans

Meteorologists are monitoring the path of a tropical depression called Fengshen, which formed early on Sunday morning. As of noon, the weather system was located in the Pacific about 890 km east-northeast of Taipei. It was traveling at a speed of about 25 km per hour towards the southern islands of Japan.

Forecasters say the storm is not likely to affect Taiwan, as it is traveling in the opposition direction. That’s good news for moon watchers who will be out in force on Monday night during the Mid-Autumn Festival. One of the main activities during that holiday in Taiwan is barbecuing and gazing at the full moon.

Forecasters say that Taiwan can expect clear skies on Monday and a high degree of visibility for the festival.
