Premier’s policy report to focus on alleged spy case and food safety
Premier Jiang Yi-huah

Premier Jiang Yi-huah is scheduled to give a policy report at the legislature as a new legislative session opens on Friday.

It is expected that the premier will touch on high-profile cases such as a high-ranking official’s alleged spying for China and the recent scandal over recycled oil.

The government announced in August that former deputy minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Chang Hsien-yao had to be removed and subjected to an investigation because of suspicions that he leaked confidential information to China.

Ruling Kuomintang caucus whip Alex Fai told the media on Monday that during the premier’s report, the details of the Chang case will become clearer.

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party caucus whip Tsai Chi-chang said he will focus on food safety and cross-strait issues.
