Taiwan celebrated its first National Sports Day with a new world record. One National Sports Day event set a new Guinness World Record for the most people skipping rope Double Dutch Style.
At 9:30 am Tuesday, 597 people simultaneously skipped rope Double Dutch Style for one minute at the same venue. UK Guinness World Record official John Garland was there to witness the event. Taiwan set the new record with 597 out of the 750 participants successfully skipping together.
Earlier on National Sports Day, 3,000 students in four 4 counties also skipped rope simultaneously for 3 minutes. To conclude the jump rope events, participants lined up in a formation shaped like Taiwan to cheer on the Taiwanese athletes that will soon compete in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
