Taiwan’s first 3-D animation to premiere in October
The Frog Ville

Taiwan’s first 3-D animation will hit theaters on October 3. The animated film entitled “The Frog Ville” tells the story of a group of Taiwanese rice frogs searching for their Utopia.

The producer of the film, Patrick Huang, said that the film market in Taiwan is very small, so Taiwanese animators have been struggling over the years. Huang said “The Frog Ville” might not be as good as some Hollywood productions, but with only NT$30 million (US$1 million) and a dozen of people on the production team, the 85-minute long animation proves that Taiwan has talent in the field of 3-D animation. He said the government should work with related industries to help provide more funding and technical support to the development of the 3-D animation industry.

The film’s producer said that this animation also incorporated Taiwanese elements and music so viewers can get to know more about Taiwan.
