Taiwanese pitcher Wei-yin Chen led the Baltimore Orioles to a 10-6 win against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. The win improved Chen’s career record to 15 wins in a single season, temporarily placing him as top pitcher from Asia.
The 29-year-old Chen only allowed one run over seven innings as Baltimore completed a three-game sweep of Boston at Fenway Park. Chen allowed only three hits, including a solo homer in the 7th inning, and struck out four.
2014 has become Chen’s most successful season since signing with the Major League Baseball team in 2012 and after leaving Japan’s professional baseball league.
His 15th win followed his previous record of 12 wins in an MLB season, which he set in 2012.
