Taiwan’s Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE) has been included in Forbes magazine’s 2014 Asia Fabulous 50 (Fab 50) Companies list.
ASE, the world’s largest integrated circuit packaging and testing services provider, made the announcement on Friday. It also said it is the first time that the company has been listed as one of the Forbes Asia Fab 50 companies. It is also the only Taiwanese firm to be included in the annual list.
ASE said that Forbes has chosen the top 50 companies from a pool of 1,300 listed firms in Asia. It also said the candidates should have market capitalization or annual sales of no less than US$3 billion. Forbes also took into account a company’s long-term performance and its outlook.
ASE said it is the first Asian firm to issue “green bonds” worth US$300 million in July in a bid to fulfill corporate responsibility. The company said the proceeds from the bond sales will be used to improve energy efficiency and water conservation.
