68% of Taiwanese parents will consider sending children overseas for their university studies.

According to the results of a recent survey conducted by HSBC, Taiwanese parents cited independence, international work experience and foreign language skills as key benefits of studying abroad.

The survey interviewed more than 4,500 parents from 15 countries, including Taiwan. It found that the United States is still the top choice of parents when they consider sending their children overseas to study. However, overseas studies tend to be expensive. The survey listed Australia, Singapore, and the US as the most expensive destinations for university studies.
