Taiwan has joined the international community in condemning the brutal acts committed by the militant group Islamic State (ISIS), which has seized wide swaths of territory in Iraq and Syria.

The foreign ministry released a statement saying that Taiwan is concerned about the threat that Islamic State poses to the world, and supports the international condemnation of the militant group

.

Over the past several months, the Islamic State has conducted brutal acts, including crucifixions, beheadings and mass killings. Those actions have drawn outrage from the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries.

Taiwan's foreign ministry said Sunday that Taiwan will continue its efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to refugees in Iraq and Syria, as well as to those who have fled to neighboring countries.
