The 2014 Trinity Forum has kicked off in Taipei. The annual conference for airport commercial revenues started on Monday and will run through September 20. Nearly 300 industry experts from 35 countries will be attending the three-day event. Transportation Minister Yeh Kuang-shih attended the opening ceremony and talked about the significance of the forum.

“We are attending a very important international conference today," said Yeh. "It is called the Trinity Forum because it is where airports, retailers, and brands get together to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. Different airports host the meeting every year. The Airports Council International (ACI) also co-hosts this annual event. Seventy percent of the 300 or so guests attending the forum this year have never been to Taiwan before.”

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Taiwan’s foreign visitor arrivals grew by nearly 10% in 2013.The transportation minister said that with several new airlines such as Emirates, Vanilla Air, Transaero, and Tigerair launching air service to Taiwan, more foreigners are expected to visit.
