The Songshan Cultural Park is showcasing a fusion of technology and the performing arts in a special expo that begins Friday.
The expo is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and has invited famous artists to perform and take part in panel discussions. They will display the use of sound, images, lighting and sensory technology to bring new possibilities to the performing arts.
At the opening on Friday, there was a display of automated revolving stages combined with lighting and multi-media effects. Artist Yang Jin-yuan shared how he wants to build up confidence in Taiwan’s arts industry through this work.
"We’ve always wanted to develop our domestic soft power," Yang said. "This is one of the convictions I’ve had in participating in this event. I hope this will lead to more theater people believing we are capable of this. And it’s not just us, but anyone that has enough experience and knowledge – we are able to do these things."
The culture ministry said it wants to display the many possibilities of the combination of art and technology and their relationship with our daily lives. The exhibit ends on Sunday.
