Train service has been cancelled along the eastern Taiwan and south-island train routes ahead of tropical storm Fung-wong, which was expected to make landfall on Saturday evening.
Transportation authorities began cancelling train service on those lines as early as 4pm on Saturday. All other trains are running on schedule.
Meanwhile, domestic airlines have also begun cancelling flights ahead of the storm. UNI Airways and TransAsia Airways have cancelled all domestic flights for Sunday. Both airlines began cancelling flights on Saturday, but say that so far their international routes are running on schedule.
One of Taiwan’s main international carriers, EVA airlines, has yet to cancel any of its international flights, but also says that it is monitoring the weather. China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines have also each made flight cancelation announcements.
Passengers on all flights with a Taiwan destination – either international or domestic – are advised to contact the airlines directly for the latest flight information.
