New Taipei City said it will offer museum tours in Korean. That’s because of the increase of tourists from Korea.

Last year, Taiwan saw 8 million visits to the island. New Taipei City Mayor Eric Chu said that the tourism industry is Taiwan’s star industry. Many people think it has grown because of the influx of Chinese tourists, but Chu said half of the visitors are coming from South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

Tourism is growing at a rate of 10% a year in New Taipei City. Scenic destinations like Tamsui, Jiufen and Yehliu are must-see sites for tourists.

Mayor Chu said the city wants to continue to meet the needs of its foreign visitors. He commended the cultural bureau for now providing museum tours in Korean.
