The National Development Council (NDC) says 33 companies have been approved to set up operations in Taiwan’s Free Economic Pilot Zones (FEPZs).
The pilot zone project is being implemented in two stages. The first stage started in August. The 33 companies that have been approved to set up operations in the FEPZs have invested a total of NT$ 7.77 billion (US$257 million).
Regulations governing the second stage of the pilot zones are still under review at the legislature. The council has held 5 public hearings and come up with 15 amendments to the regulations. The NDC says it hopes the legislature will approve the regulations soon.
