The Ju Percussion Group is on a three week tour of Europe. First Lady Chow Mei-ching will go to its performance in Vienna as the Honorary Leader of the famous Taiwanese percussion group.
The group began its tour on Tuesday and has already performed in Linz, Austria. A review in the Austrian newspaper Oberosterreich Nachrichten gave the performance a 6-star rating, the highest rating possible.
On Friday, the Ju Percussion Group is performing in Germany. Then it will return to Austria for the highlight of its tour, its first performance at the Vienna Concert Hall on Monday.
First Lady Chow has often accompanied Taiwan’s most famous performing arts groups in their overseas performances to support the performers and promote Taiwan’s dynamic cultural scene. Chow has accompanied the Ju Percussion Group in the past, both on their overseas and for domestic performances.
The Ju Percussion Group is the first percussion ensemble established in Taiwan. It consists of 13 talented percussionists and one composer in residence. The members play a unique combination of Western percussion instruments, Chinese gong-drum music, and other forms of Asian traditional music.
