Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Wang Yu-chi has denied media reports that claimed Mainland authorities are strongly opposed to his attendance at the upcoming APEC summit in Beijing.
Speaking at the legislature on Friday, Wang said that the reports were untrue. He said the foreign ministry is deciding who will be on the APEC delegation. But the MAC staff participated in last year’s APEC leaders’ summit, and is likely to do the same this year.
The media reports also claimed that the head of the National Development Council is not welcome at the APEC ministerial meetings. But Wang also said that these rumors are untrue.
