Taiwan’s baseball team out-batted Japan 10-4 at the Asian Games on Saturday, sending them to the finals on Sunday.
Taiwan's victory was sealed at the top of the third inning when its batters added three runs to make the score 10-3. Japan mounted an offensive in the bottom of the ninth with Shigeki Nakano's lead-off triple, but one run was all the team could manage.
Taiwan, which plays under the name Chinese Taipei, had 11 hits in the game, including a three-run homer by Kuo Yen-wen in the second inning.
Taiwan’s win on Saturday means the team is facing a rematch on Sunday against South Korea, which beat China 7-4 on Saturday evening. The last time Taiwan faced off against South Korea, on Thursday, South Korea won 0-10, with a team consisting of the best players in the host country's professional baseball league.
