Taiwan won a gold and bronze in women’s taekwondo on Tuesday at the Asian Games in Incheon.
Huang Yun-wen defeated her South Korean opponent 4-2 in the under 53 kg. division to snatch the gold. The bronze was won by Sun Nuei-ning in the under 49 kg. division.
Taiwan also beat South Korea 6-0 in women’s softball on Tuesday. That’s after Taiwan lost to South Korea in baseball to win the silver medal.
Taiwan’s softball team started off with 1-0 in the first inning. It maintained that score until the seventh inning when Taiwan scored 5 points to defeat South Korea 6 – 0 at the end of the game.
The Asian Games kicked off on September 19 in Incheon. As of Tuesday, Taiwanese athletes have racked up 8 golds, 8 silvers, and 14 bronzes, under the official team name Chinese Taipei. That puts Taiwan in 7th place in the overall medal rankings.
