Arms sales and indigenous submarine programs will be the focus of discussions in the upcoming US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference in Virginia. That’s the word from the defense ministry on Wednesday.
The annual conference is slated for October 5-7 and will focus on U.S.-Taiwan defense and military cooperation. Taiwan's future defense and national security needs are also on the agenda. A Taiwanese delegation will talk about the country's major defense policies, such as efforts to shift toward an all-volunteer force.
The defense ministry said the event will serve as an opportunity to discuss bilateral defense industry cooperation and technology exchanges. Now in its 13th year, the conference will discuss Taiwan's role in the U.S. strategic rebalance towards Asia and examine Taiwan's defense and military plans for the next 5-10 years.
