Taiwan’s National Day falls on October 10 and the theme for this year’s National Day is “Strengthening Democracy, Creating a Better Future”.
At the National Day celebrations, there will be a big backdrop portraying horses, which signify strength and moving forward.
As usual, the Presidential Office will host a celebratory banquet. The festivities will include a variety of performances, including performances by schools across the island and the Tri-Service Military Guards. A big fireworks display will also be held at Taichung Harbor. Over NT$30 million was spent on this year’s celebrations, about the same budget as in past years.
Legislative President Wang Jin-pyng spoke on Friday about the spirit of this year’s celebrations. He said, "As we prepare for the National Day events for the Republic of China, we hope that the events will help us get over our sadness and inspire hope in our future." Wang said that Taiwan has seen many disasters this year, and he hopes that the celebrations can help bring a sense of hope to the nation.
There will be a Facebook page for the National Day events which people can visit for the latest information on all related events.
