Karate gold!

Taiwan won a second gold in karate at the Asian Games, on Saturday, the last day of the games in Incheon, South Korea. That brought Taiwan’s total number of gold medals at the games to ten.

The medalist, Ku Tsui-ping, won 8-3 over her rival from Kazakhstan, Yekaterina Khupovets in the women's under-50kg karate final

Prior to the finals, Ku had defeated two South Korean opponents 4-0, and 2-0, and a Chinese competitor 3-2, to advance to the semifinals. The 19-year old University of Taipei student then overpowered her Hong Kong opponent 3-0 to advance to the finals.

Earlier on Saturday, Taiwan also won two bronze medals, one in table tennis and one in soft tennis.

As the games wrapped up in Incheon on Saturday evening, Taiwan was ranked 7th out of 45 participating nations in the total medal count, with 10 gold, 18 silver and 23 bronze medals.
