Deputy Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng is leading a delegation to Williamsburg, Virginia to attend this year’s US-Taiwan Defense Industry Conference.
The annual conference is slated for October 5-7 and will focus on US-Taiwan defense and military cooperation. High-level officials from the US State Department will attend the meetings and deliver reports on defense policy. US officials attending this year’s conference will be of the highest level in the conference’s 13 years of history.
Taiwan’s defense ministry said that arms sales and indigenous submarine programs will be the focus of discussions in the upcoming meetings. The event will also serve as an opportunity to discuss bilateral defense industry cooperation and technology exchanges. Taiwan's role in the United States’ strategic rebalance toward Asia, and Taiwan's defense and military plans for the next 5-10 years will also be discussed.
