An instant noodle aficionado has given positive ratings to ten Taiwanese instant noodle brands despite a tainted lard oil scandal that has shaken Taiwan’s food industry.
The American food blogger behind “The Ramen Rater”, Hans Lienesch, said that a scandal like this “steals the secure feeling we have about one of the most basic necessities of life”. Nevertheless, he said he has utmost trust in Taiwan’s food safety and quality.
He told Taiwan’s Central News Agency that he remains a fan of Taiwanese food despite the scandal. But he said that nobody should tolerate food suppliers who cheat consumers and put their health at risk. He also said that the incident could provide an opportunity to push for stricter food safety regulations.
