The International Forum on Natural Dyes will be held in Nantou in central Taiwan this Wednesday and Thursday. Nearly 400 natural dye artists from 28 countries are attending the forum to display their works.
The theme of this year’s conference is Going Green. The Ministry of Culture held a fashion show on Tuesday to present some of the unique clothing to be presented at the upcoming event.
On Tuesday, Culture minister Lung Yingtai spoke about how the colors of natural dye relate to our world and lives.
"The beauty of today’s natural dye comes from the colors of vegetables and from the power and emotions of a handmade craft," said Lung.
"It’s like the memories of your mother and grandmothers. It’s a beauty that combines modern techniques and designs. It’s like the beauty of looking up at the rainbow while your feet are walking on soil. It’s truly wonderful, and it’s the language that Taiwan is using in our friendship with the world.
Taiwan’s natural dye artists and those from around the world will showcase their creations at this global forum.
