The government has decided to set up an office to tackle food safety problems.
Premier Jiang Yi-huah told lawmakers on Tuesday that the decision to set up the office is due to the lack of coordination between government agencies. He said the recent food safety problems are very serious. The office will have personnel in charge of coordinating regulations regarding food safety with various government agencies.
The food safety office will begin operations within two weeks at the earliest.
