Opposition and ruling lawmakers were not able to agree on how to review the cross-strait trade in services agreement. That’s the word from legislative president Wang Jin-pyng after two hours of negotiations on Tuesday.
Both sides expressed their views on how the agreement should be reviewed and have agreed to look into the issue further. Wang will call another meeting at an appropriate time to discuss the issue. But he did not cite a schedule. When asked if he would meet with students who have been demonstrating against the agreement, he said that would happen at a later time.
The cross-strait trade in services agreement was signed by Taiwan and China last June but has not yet been reviewed by the legislature.
