Taiwanese pitcher Chen Wei-yin is expected to stay with Baltimore Orioles next season.
In September, the executive vice-president of baseball operations for the Orioles, Dan Duquette, praised Chen as a pitcher who can bring victory to the team. Duquette also expressed his hope of keeping Chen.
Chen pitched his last game of 2014 on Tuesday. Chen was the starting pitcher for 31 games, and achieved a 16-6 record and a 3.54 ERA this season.
The 29-year-old left-handed pitcher joined the Major League Baseball team in 2012. Chen agreed to a three-year contract with the Orioles that includes a US$4.75 million club option with a US$372,000 buyout for 2015.
