Premier Jiang Yi-huah is going all out to ensure that Taiwan’s electoral system is ready for the year-end municipal elections. At a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Jiang talked about the preparations. He spoke about a computer breakdown earlier this year which affected the household registration system.
Cabinet Spokesman Sun Lih-chyun relayed the premier’s comments later on Thursday, following the Cabinet meeting.
“The premier said that the interior ministry must take special care in preparing for the municipal elections on November 29, ensuring that the data is accurate and complete, in order to pave the way for smooth voter registration and voting procedures," said Sun.
So far, the interior ministry has already conducted ten tests in different counties and cities, and three nationwide tests to prepare for the November elections. The ministry is set to conduct a fourth nationwide test on Saturday.
