Dejected Tseng continues ties for 20th in LPGA Taiwan
Former world No. 1 Yani Tseng

Former world No. 1 golfer Yani Tseng expressed frustration at her performance after the final round of the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship. She ended with a four-round total of 6-under 282.

A visibly dejected Tseng told the press after the game on Sunday that she was “a little disappointed”. The 25-year-old had been hoping that Taiwan would win the tournament.

On Sunday, Tseng got off to a good start, scoring a birdie on the first hole, but she ran into trouble on the second hole, hitting a rare triple bogey.

She recovered later, and picked up five more birdies and just one bogey to finish the round at 2-under 70.

Talking about her prolonged slump, Tseng, who has fallen to 76th in the world rankings, said she is aware that her problem is “psychological” rather than technical.

World No. 1 Inbee Park of South Korea on Sunday took the title at the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship, which carried a purse of US$2 million, while American Stacy Lewis finished a close second. Tseng ended tied for 20th with 6-under-par 282.
