Chan's dream of keeping OEC Taipei WTA Challenger title broken

Taiwanese tennis player Chan Yung-jan's dream of keeping the singles' title of the OEC Taipei WTA Challenger for the
host country was dashed Sunday as she lost to Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia 1-6, 6-2,6-4 in the final. Chan entered the singles final by beating Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 on Saturday.

In the doubles, the final will be dominated by Taiwanese players. Saturday’s semi-final saw Chang Kai-chen and Chuang Chia-jung defeating Arina Rodionova of Russia and Olga Savchuk of Ukraine 6-3, 7-5, 6-3, 7-5.

Another Taiwanese pair, Chan Yung-jan and her sister Chan Hao-ching, also defeated their rivals, Hsieh Shu-ying from Taiwan and Xu Yifan from China, 6-2, 6-1 in the other semi-final match.
