Premier Jiang Yi-huah has urged the police and the authorities to do everything necessary to ensure that municipal elections scheduled for Saturday go smoothly.
The Premier was speaking Wednesday after hearing a report on the security situation in the final days before the election. Jiang asked police to maintain public order and see that the elections are peaceful. He also said that police must tighten security measures to ensure the safety of electoral candidates and their families.
Jiang also called on the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, and the Central Electoral Commission to carry out their duties so that the upcoming elections, the largest in Taiwan’s history, are a success.
