Taipei Mayor-elect Ko Wen-je has invited People First Party (PFP) Chairman James Soong to serve as his chief advisor. Soong accepted Ko’s invitation on Monday.
The incoming mayor told the media after a 80-minute meeting with Soong that there are many things he can learn from the senior politician. Ko praised Soong’s past performance, especially the efficiency of his administration during his stint as governor of the now-defunct Taiwan Province between 1993 and 1998.
Soong said that he is willing to accept Ko's offer without pay and will not interfere in Ko's personnel decisions.
