Two leading Taiwanese CEOs have both expressed optimism about Taiwan’s economic future.
Speaking at a meeting of CEOs from both sides of the Taiwan Strait on Monday, Chairman and CEO of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Morris Chang predicted that Taiwan’s economy will perform well in the next year.
Chang said that with economic recovery in export markets, especially the US, and with the growing number of applications for smartphones, tablet computers, and other IT products, Taiwan’s economy is set to do well in 2015.
Chang also predicted that Japan and China will both see good economic performance in 2015, with the Mainland GDP expected to grow by 6-7%.
Meanwhile, President and Chairman of Taiwanese electronics giant Acer said that Taiwan must keep up with the pace of global economic integration. He said that if Taiwan can shed its fear of foreign competition and build a competitive edge, what Taiwanese businesses once perceived as threats can become opportunities.
