A fishing boat captain has died and two other crew members remain unaccounted for after their vessel hit rocks in waters off Taiwan’s northern coast and capsized Friday.
The Coast Guard said the boat set off at 1pm Friday from the northern fishing port of Yehliu in New Taipei with 11 people aboard. The boat was reported to have overturned at 11:27pm.
The Coast Guard managed to rescue eight people from the sea, while the dead body of the Taiwanese captain was found early Saturday.
The search is still underway for a missing Taiwanese crew member and another Indonesian seaman.
