President Ma Ying-jeou has unveiled a new building at the National Sports Training Center in the southern city of Kaohsiung. Vice Premier Simon Chang and Education Minister Wu Se-hwa also attended the ceremony on Monday.
Ma said that he did his military service in Kaohsiung, so he knows that the weather there is ideal for training athletes. The National Sports Training Center has been home to top athletes from around the island since 2010. The new building now offers athletes even more professional training facilities.
The president encouraged athletes to train harder and win more awards for Taiwan. He also encouraged the public to exercise more and eat a healthier diet.
