Retiring Taiwanese pop star Jody Chiang has added nine concerts to her farewell tour in response to overwhelming demand for tickets. The announcement came on Friday after many fans were unable to get tickets to the original 16 concerts.
The concert promoter has been hounded for failing to prepare for the huge demand. Its ticketing site and ticketing machines at convenience stores were overwhelmed during the three days after the original tickets went on sale.
Sales of the tickets to the extra nine concerts will now be handled by Taiwanese computer maker Acer and its cloud platform. The founder of Acer, Stan Shih, said that he is confident that his company has the ability to handle the challenge of dealing with such a high volume of ticket sales.
The 16 original concerts will take place as scheduled between July and September in both Taipei and Kaohsiung.
