Taipei Fine Arts Museum opens Children's Art Education Center
Happy Children's Day!

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum opened a Children's Art Education Center on Friday to mark Children’s Day.

The center has an exhibit gallery, an interactive showcase area, a creative workshop, and an area for preschool aged children. The center will feature installations that offer interactive and sensory experiences. The center’s goal is to develop a sense of aesthetics and an appreciation for the joy of art in young children.

Museum director Huang Hai-Ming explains. "The center has a special method of educating children. It doesn’t instruct children," Huang said. "It uses group cooperation or other cooperative means. It uses dialogue. We here want to encourage kids to develop artistic knowledge and an artistic sensibility through interaction and cooperation."

The center was completed with funds from the Taipei City Government and the TSMC Education and Culture Foundation. The project has taken five years and NT$28 million (around US$900,000) to complete.
