The agriculture ministry has ordered all poultry farms and poultry markets to implement sanitizing and disinfecting procedures. The ministry’s announcement on Monday comes amid an outbreak of three strains of highly pathogenic H5 avian flu.
The agriculture ministry said that sanitizing measures will start Tuesday and continue for three days. Also, starting from Tuesday, all poultry farmers will need to provide a health inspection document issued by a veterinarian before they can send their poultry to be slaughtered. These health documents will only be good for 3 days.
Violators of the new regulations will face fines of between NT$50,000 to NT$1 million (about US$1,500-$33,000).
