New KMT Chairman Eric Chu asks lawyers to check on KMT assets
Eric Chu

New Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Eric Chu presided over his first central standing committee on Wednesday.

Chu said many people have given him suggestions on how to improve the KMT. He explained how he will deal with party assets, which have been a source of controversy.

"Now about the issues that everyone is concerned about" said Chu. "First, as for party assets, I will ask lawyer Jennifer Wang and committee member Liao Cheng-ching to invite professional and impartial people to look into them and deal with related financial problems."

Chu also said there would be a reform of the party’s organization.

Many Central Standing Committee members have suggested revoking the lawsuit against Legislature President Wang Jin-pyng. Chu asked the evaluation board to revise the rules for designating and punishing party members. Chu said that Wang’s case will be dealt with once those rules are revised.

Chu also appointed former Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin and Huang Min-hui as Vice Chairpersons of the party.
