The Taiwanese government has expressed its condolences to the people of Saudi Arabia over the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
On Friday foreign ministry spokesperson Anna Kao praised King Abdullah for his contributions to peace in the Middle East and his efforts to improve the status of women in Saudi Arabia.
Kao said Taiwan has sent a letter of condolence to the Saudi government through its mission in the Middle Eastern nation.
King Abdullah died Friday at the age of 90. The king’s 79-year-old half-brother, Prince Salman, has been announced as his successor. Taiwan's foreign ministry said it hopes bilateral relations will continue to improve.
