Taiwan and Austria have begun accepting applications for their working holiday programs.
The two countries signed a joint statement in November, 2014, paving the way for the reciprocal working holiday program.
Both countries have agreed to allow up to 50 citizens from the other country, aged 18-30, to travel and work within its borders for up to six months.
One year after the launch of the program, both countries will review the results and discuss whether to adjust the number of openings. The foreign ministry in Taiwan said Monday that it hopes the program will boost tourism, and cultural and youth exchanges between the two countries.
Austria is the eighth country in Europe and the 13th overall to have inked a working holiday agreement with Taiwan. Agreements with Germany, Ireland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Poland, Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand are already in effect.
