Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is ranked third in sales among the world's semiconductor enterprises in 2014. That’s the word from South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency citing US-based semiconductor market research company, IC Insights. TSMC is the largest semiconductor manufacturer in the world.
The report said TSMC had US$24.9 billion in sales last year. That’s an increase of 25% from 2013. That marked the fastest growth among the top 10 semiconductor companies in the world.
Intel Corp. topped the ranking with a revenue of US$51.3 billion, up 6% from the previous year. Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co. was second and saw sales of US$37.2 billion with a rise of 8% from the year before.
Apple Inc. made it into the top 50 for the first time at 44th place. Apple’s chips are produced by TSMC.
